Behind the scenes of PALA’s 2018 photo shoot
A couple of weeks ago, while much of Britain was shivering under several feet of snow, the PALA team managed to hop onto one of the few planes to make it out of Gatwick to shoot the photos for this year’s Lookbook and for the PALA website.
We’re pretty thrilled with the results and we can’t wait to share them with you over the next few weeks. In the meantime, we thought you might like a sneak peek behind the scenes of the shoot.
Our 2018 photo shoot took place in sunny Malta, where our lovely models, Grace, Daisy, Molly and Flynn spent a weekend exploring the alleyways of Mdina and cafes of Valetta, mucking around on the beach, jumping off cliffs into freezing cold water (sorry we had to re-take that one guys!) and losing two pairs of sunglasses!
PALA’s spirit is one of fun and adventure and we wanted the shoot to capture this. So we recruited a team of models who are already friends (Grace and Daisy are sisters). And then we asked our talented photographer Andrew to accompany them as they explored the island and had fun together. We think the results speak for themselves.
With two summer palettes of ice cream hues and Crayola brights to prepare for, we spent several hours ahead of the shoot scouring the vintage shops of PALA’s hometown, Brighton, to create our wardrobe. On the shoot itself, our amazing models did their own styling, hair and make-up, giving us a wonderfully natural, easy-going result.
A two day shoot takes around six months of planning – and it was nearly all for nothing, when Britain’s ‘Beast from the East’ brought travel chaos and cancelled flights. Luckily for us, our plane made it out of Gatwick and within an hour of landing, we’d hit the streets of Malta to start shooting.
This is just a taster of what’s to come. Watch out for our new Lookbook over the next few weeks, which will showcase PALA’s 2018 collection as well as some old favourites. Keep your eyes peeled on our social channels too, where we’ll be sharing a few of the more than 4,000 photos we took during the trip to Malta. We hope you love them as much as we do!
